Our son has downs syndrome and will be in a wheelchair. We hope to be able to see World of Color, but his attention span is short and he will not tolerate long waits where nothing is happening. Could you please give us our best options for seeing it?

    Hi Dana,

Thank you for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm excited for your "best day ever" at The Happiest Place on Earth.

As a mama with a special needs son, I understand your concern with making this trip magical while taking care of your son's needs. I recommend you take a look at the Disability Access Service (DAS) Card to see if that would be beneficial for your son. You can visit the main entrance Guest Relations to discuss your Child's special needs and concerns with a Cast Member.

With the DAS Card, you will go to one of the multiple Guest Relations kiosks throughout the park and inform the Cast Member about which attraction you would like to visit. They will fill out your DAS card with the name of the attraction and a Return Time. ANY time after the assigned Return Time, you can see a Cast Member at the entrance of the requested attraction to enter through the FASTPASS (FP) or alternate entrance as directed. The DAS card is not the same as an FP in that there is not a window Return Time, so there is no pressure to make it back within a certain period. You can only access one DAS card Return Time for one attraction at a time.

World of Color will have a viewing area that is reserved for wheelchairs. However, you'll need to have your World of Color FP for entry and assignment. All the Cast Members are trained to understand the DAS card, so I would talk to them about entry into the reserved wheelchair area with your World of Color FP, and your DAS card for your son's special needs.

If you have any more questions, please visit me here and let me know how I can help you plan your magical vacation.

    chEARs!
