my son is going to disney with his school but are not staying on property can I put money on his magicband and if so how?

Hi, Angie! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Thank you for bringing us this great question! MagicBands add such versatility and convenience to any Walt Disney World Resort vacation! However, they can’t actually be “loaded” with money. When Guests stay at a Disney Resort hotel, they have the option of adding a credit card on file to make room charges through their MagicBand. That being said, only Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can do this. This is only one of the many benefits of staying at a Disney Resort hotel!

My suggestion to you would be to purchase a Disney Gift Card for your son to use during his trip if you prefer that he not bring money. Disney gift cards are accepted at most Quick Service, Table Service, and Food Cart locations, as well as at various merchandise locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort. Although they cannot be reloaded online at this time, they can be reloaded at most stores throughout Disney Theme Parks, Resort hotels, as well as Disney Springs.

I hope this answers your question and that your son has a magical time! Come see us again soon!
