My son and I are diabetics. How available is food during the different excursions, such as hiking to Dunn Falls in Jamaica? Are we able to purchase lunch food or snacks on board the ship to take with us on the port excursions?

    Ahoy, Tracey!

Disney Cruise Line is so great about catering to special dietary needs. As far as food on an excursion, we have found that you are allowed to bring only prepackaged food off of the ship and into any of the Caribbean ports. You are not allowed to bring any fruits or vegetables off of the ship. If there is something that is the ideal snack for you to have for yourself and your son, it is probably best to bring it along with you.

That being said, there are absolutely options for you available on the ship. You can order Smuckers uncrustables from room service (be sure to ask them to leave it in the wrapper) and you might be able to get bags of chips from them as well. When ordering room service, be sure to have singles on hand to tip. You can also head up to the buffet in the morning and get prepackaged cereal that makes a great snack in a pinch.

While I have been to Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica, I don't really remember if there was food available there. I would definitely recommend bringing your own, just to be safe. You might be pleasantly surprised to find that there is food available when you are on your excursions. We were been able to get delicious food in Grand Cayman before we boarded a boat to the Stingray Sandbar.

I hope you have a wonderful cruise! Please come back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any more questions that arise as you are planning your voyage!

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
