My son will have a DAS pass, is there any place special he can watch the parade and dance party in MK where he wouldn’t have to get there way in advance and be really crowded in? I know he would love them but he cannot handle long waits & crowds.

    Hi Hilary,

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your really important question. As a mama to a Mouseketeer with autism myself, I completely understand your concern and would be happy to help you.

Once you've visited Guest Relations inside a theme park to set up the Disability Access Service, you'll be all set to use that great service one attraction at a time at all four of the theme parks. Since it utilizes the FastPass+ queues, it won't be valid for parades, fireworks, or any attractions that are part of Extra Magic Hours or any other special event when FastPass+ queues are closed. For experiences like the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade where there are no queues, my family likes to grab a yummy snack and find a spot around 45 minutes before the parade begins. I pack sensory toys and headphones in my sling bag in case my Mouseketeer needs them, or either my husband or I walk around a bit with him to make his wait time shorter. There are often games or dances going on in the parade route before it passes through, which are also fun for him to help pass the time while he waits. My son is a big fan of maps, so we also like to let him look at a map of the theme park while we all share our favorite moments from the day.

With the Disney Festival of Fantasy Dining Package, you'll be able to enjoy reserved VIP seating for the parade, and while you'll still need to arrive early, it should save you some waiting time and allow you to spread out a little more.

One final suggestion is to check with any Cast Members nearby as Guests are starting to find parade viewing spots and let them know your concerns about your son's challenges with waiting. They may have suggestions for shady or less-crowded locations or be able to offer some other sort of assistance.

Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Hilary, and please let us know if we can help with anything else as you're planning your trip. I hope that you and your family have a truly magical vacation!
