Our son is celebrating the big 16 and we are going to Disney(02/11)! What is out there to celebrate his big day? They have soo much for smaller kids, what about teenagers? Thanks!

Hi, Rebecca! My son just celebrated his 16th birthday last month...so I certainly understand your desire and dilemma in celebrating with him at Walt Disney World.  I actually have two teenagers who would rather celebrate at WDW than any other place on earth. Here are a few ideas from my big guy:

    • Take him to DisneyQuest (an indoor interactive virtual theme park) at Downtown Disney.  In fact, you can either join him or allow him (and a sibling or friend) to enjoy it alone.  You can go to DQ alone at the age of 16...a great rite of passage!
    • Allow him a thrilling ride-along experience with a professional driver in a NASCAR-style stock car at the Richard Petty Driving Experience
    • Surprise him in your Disney resort room or at any restaurant with a special cake or treat from the Dream Makers at Disney Floral & Gifts.

Just being at WDW is a great birthday experience, but sporting a "Happy Birthday" button at the parks brings with it such special memories, too! Let me know if you need more direction. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
