My son has aspergers. How can I know we can get the guest pass before we book?  I read disney is very nice to people who need some extra help.

    Hi Pamela!

As a mother of a child with a sensory processing disorder, I know just how nerve-wracking it can be to deal with all of the unknowns when traveling with a special needs child! Our last trip with my son proved to be very difficult. He became over stimulated very easily which in turn led to meltdowns, tantrums, and a very sad, and overwhelmed family.

The Walt Disney World Resort has special services for guests with cognitive disabilities such as advance ticket purchase options, strollers as wheelchairs; break areas, and many more. They have put together a wonderful printable guide for guests with cognitive disabilities.  There also is a Disability Access Service Card that you may be eligible to obtain depending on your son’s needs. I love this card because it allows you schedule a return time that is approximately the same as the current queue’s wait time, without actually standing in the queue. So for our family, we were able to schedule a return time and take my son to wait in a place that wasn’t as stimulating as the ride queue. There is not a guarantee that you would be eligible for this card, but I suggest that you visit the guest relations lobby in any of the theme parks, and speak with a cast member about your son’s specific needs.

In our experience all of the cast members have been so helpful and that has made our Walt Disney World Resort vacation so magical! I hope that you have the same experience! Please stop back at any time with more questions!
