    Shanna from MN Asked

Hi! My son (age 4) and I are cruising on the Dream in January. I was wondering about the kids clubs. Can he play in there if I DON'T leave? I'm not sure we'll feel comfortable leaving him, but there may be activities he'd enjoy. Thanks!

    Hi, Shanna!

The Youth Clubs on the Disney Dream are simply amazing. Each themed space literally transports you into the Disney Story -- it's pretty awesome how the genius Disney Imagineers can bring the various Disney movies to life. Each child can't help but stop and stare when they walk into each room -- and the adults get pretty stoked too!

There will be daily open houses at the youth clubs. It's the best time to be in there with your child since you can both explore the club together. I love spending time in there with my kids. I'm sure there have been times when I've over-stayed :-), but the place just never ceases to amaze me. I feel like a kid again whenever I'm in there. I don't remember ever being kicked out of the club -- I think it was more like my 4 year old running off with his new friends or joining story time with Snow White. Then of course, I'd find myself watching from a little further away... just to make sure that he's enjoying himself.

If you're unsure about leaving him, I suggest checking the schedule of activities and bringing him there during an actual activity that you think he'd really enjoy... as opposed to just having him do open play. My kids really enjoyed making flubber and other art & science projects. They also love story times and dance parties with characters. On embarkation day, I would highly suggest making a visit to the Oceaneer Club & Lab to introduce yourselves to the Youth Counselors. They'll be able to fill you in on the different fun activities that you might want to check out -- maybe you can try and actually leave him there for a few minutes during the activity to test the waters. You can pick him up anytime. That is, IF he would like to leave -- my kids ended up loving the youth clubs, it was difficult for me to bring them home in the evenings :-). But I was able to spend a good amount of lounging around by the adult pool and deck... quietly.

Wishing you a magical voyage, Shanna!
