    Brandy from SC Asked

I have a solo trip to Orlando coming up in November for a conference. I don't want to be stuck with counter service meals all week, and a table for one doesn't interest me. Are there any bars within WDW restaurants that serve meals/appetizers? Thanks!

    Hi Brandy,

I am a frequent solo traveler to Walt Disney World and often find myself in the same position as you - I want something more special than counter service, but not as elaborate as table service. My frequent solution, as you suggest, is to eat at bar or lounge.

Many of the hotel bars offer a fairly substantial menu, often comprised of small items from the main restaurant nearby. My personal favorite is the Territory Lounge at the Wilderness Lodge. It's fairly low-key and small, the servers are usually very pleasant women, and they have a great cheese fondue dish on the bar menu that always hits the spot.

Some other places that I've had good luck are:

    - The lounge next to the Wave restaurant at the Contemporary.
    - The Tambu Lounge next to Ohana at the Polynesian.
    - Crew's Cup Lounge at the Yacht Club.
    - Sanaa Lounge at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village.
    - Victoria Falls Lounge at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House.
    - Rose & Crown Bar at the UK Pavilion at Epcot.
    - The Bar at the 50s Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

You may also want to consider the "small plates" places at Epcot. Tutto Gusto in the Italy pavilion and Spice Road Table in the Morocco pavilion both offer tapas-size small plates. They are table service venues, but they are small, with more of a relaxing lounge atmosphere. It's perfectly appropriate to just have a little portion or two and then hang out and relax, or leave. Cava del Tequila doesn't have a big menu, but if you want a snack and a drink, it's a great place to chill out at Epcot. The new outdoor lounge at the Brown Derby at Disney's Hollywood Studios offers a similar small plates type of service and has great people watching opportunities. I had a terrific cheese sampler platter there last week that made a perfectly serviceable dinner.
