Is the snorkeling rental separate from the sting ray snorkeling equipment? Can tubes/floats be used in the snorkeling lagoon? We are not great swimmers, but hoping to safely do all 3 things, so trying to think most practical way to handle all 3 excursions!

    Ahoy, Kyss!

I'm so glad you navigated your way to the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask your Castaway Cay questions! I was just visiting Disney's private island last week, and it was wonderful.

Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure is one of our favorites! Your family will get a chance to touch and feed stingrays and then do a little snorkeling in the special stingray lagoon. The equipment that is provided at Castaway Ray's is for use only in the stingray lagoon.

If you would like to check out the underwater hidden surprises in the 22-acre lagoon off Castaway Family Beach, you will need to rent the equipment at Gils' Fins and Boats or Flippers n Floats. It is quite a swim out to the underwater statues, and you will not be able to use a float in the lagoon. I would recommend skipping the snorkeling, as you mentioned that you are not real strong swimmers. I was a lifeguard and swam for years and still struggled with the swim back into shore after snorkeling in the lagoon.

Floating on a tube at Castaway Cay is one of my favorites. It is made even better if I have a frozen beverage in my hand. Be sure to find one of the bar servers who wander the beach to have them bring you your drink of choice! It is the perfect beach treat!

If you bring your own goggles, you can check out the fish and shells found in the swimming area without having to swim so far. This way, you can use the float and just duck your head in to see what might be under you.

I hope you have a wonderful time at the perfect island paradise, Castaway Cay! Be sure to send a postcard home with the special Castaway Cay postmark.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
