Is there snorkeling at the adult beach at Castaway Cay? Is it as good as at the family beach? Can we bring our own snorkel gear? We wil be there in May with the Dream. Thank you.

    Hi, Alyce!

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise aboard the Disney Dream next month! There is snorkeling at the adult beach, Serenity Bay, at Castaway Cay. I have never snorkeled there, but our family has at the family beach. In the snorkeling lagoon at the family beach, there are plenty of colorful fish and some hidden surprises -- Mickey Mouse Statue, sunken treasure chest, etc.

In addition, they've taken large pots with holes in them and turned them upside down on the bottom -- so there are lots of friendly fish swimming around through them. They congregate a little deeper so you may want to swim around the whole area to see everything. The entire snorkeling lagoon probably doesn't get any deeper than 8-10 feet deep, and there are lifeguards stationed on both sides. Disney has put up a big net separating the lagoon from the ocean which keeps the big stuff out.

At Serenity Bay, I've heard that there is a "shipwreck" under the water which attracts many different species of tropical fish. Plus, you may can see starfish, conchs, sand dollars and stingrays. You can bring your own snorkeling gear or rent at Gil's Fins and Boats. You may find the snorkeling at Serenity Bay a little less crowded than at the family beach.

I hope this helps you plan. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
