My sister and I are surprising our 10 and 11 year old sons with a trip to Disney World, for the first time. We have a 1 day hoppers pass so, which parks do you recommend we cover? Thank you.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Mom's Panel! If I had one day to spend at Walt Disney World with two preteen boys, this would be my plan for the day.

Be sure to make FastPass+ Selections 30 days in advance of your arrival (60 days if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel). My suggestions for these selections are Space Mountain, Seven Dwafs Mine Train, and Haunted Mansion (in that order if possible). Make your selections for the afternoon hours, as this is the time of day that you can expect the longest stand-by wait times.

Arrive at Magic Kingdom Park before it opens for the day. Enjoy the welcome show and once the Park opens, head straight to Frontierland. Enjoy Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain with minimal to no wait times. Next head over to Adventureland and hop on Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jungle Cruise. Next blast over to Tomorrowland. Catch a show at Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor and then defeat Zurg at Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Space out your day so that you are now close to your first FastPass+ reservation time. You will have time between these reservations to grab a bite to eat, shop, and wait in the stand-by lines for other rides and attractions you would enjoy.

For the evening hours, a perfect park for your boys is Disney's Hollywood Studios. My boys' favorite rides, in order of attractions I believe will have the longest to shortest wait times, are Toy Story Midway Mania!, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. Once you arrive at the park, visit a FastPass+ Kiosk to see if you can secure a selection for one of these attractions for a shorter wait time. Finish your day with my favorite nighttime show, Fantasmic!.

    Have a magical day!

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
