Hello, I am a single mother of 2 (5 months and 6yrs.) Do you think it's a good idea for a single mother to vacation at Disney? If so, any suggestions or recommendations? I made a promise to my 6 year old daughter before my recent pregnancy.

    Hi Friend!

Not only do I think all families can benefit from the magic of a Disney Parks vacation provided it fits within the budget, I definitely place incredible importance in keeping our promises to our little ones. We are building trust in our relationships now that we will need for life. Go for it!

Now, a Walt Disney World Resort vacation is only magical if Momma isn't racing around trying to visit absolutely everything in a few days. My biggest piece of advice to everyone is to slow down, and this will be especially true for you. Chose a few experiences that you would consider "can't miss," and prioritize them. For everything else, it's nice to have a general outline for the day, but to relax enough to take it all in. Step back for just a moment to watch your daughter's reaction as Maleficent appears as a fire breathing dragon during the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Join her in calling Captain Hook a scurvy swab as you zoom above him on Peter Pan's Flight. Spend some time brushing the goats at the Affection Section at Rafiki's Planet Watch in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Just take it all in.

Since you will be traveling alone, focus only on attractions that are appropriate for your youngest as well. While that means that most coasters will wait for another visit, I don't believe that you will miss them with all of the other incredible experiences that will be available to you.

Try at least one Character Dining opportunity. This is a wonderful way for your older daughter to meet some of her favorite characters in a relaxed and personal setting.

    Wishing you many magical memories,

    Sally

"To all who come to this happy place, welcome." I am the lucky wife to my brave Prince and a stay-at-home mom to two bold and brilliant little girls; one a Jedi Padawan and the other a Princess. Joining the Disney Vacation Club meant that our family could travel to a "World of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy" as often as we could sneak away, so we do! I would be thrilled to sprinkle a little Pixie Dust on your next unforgettable vacation. Learn More About Sally
