Hello. I am a single mom, and have been to WDW 21 times, but never as a parent. Last was 08. At the time of travel my daughter will be 2, my son would turn 6 during the trip. Do you think it would be ok with just the three of us going?

Hello Amanda! I am also a single mother and so I completely understand why'd you be a little hesitant on taking your children to the parks. Sometimes it gets a little stressful managing small children at home let alone in a large public place. I think that you will be relieved to know that Walt Disney World has gone to great lengths to make sure that every guest, no matter the family dynamic, has access to necessities while enjoying the parks. There are Baby Care Centers located in each of the four parks and they come equipped with changing stations, feeding areas, diapers, wipes, and anything else you could possibly need. The changing areas are perfect for changing your little one while also keeping your older one nearby.

I would suggest bringing along a double stroller for the little legs and also as a storage component. I know how easy it is to become the human shelf when you are responsible for carrying everything.

As a Walt Disney World veteran you probably already know that the parks have so many things for little ones to do, but if you haven't been since 2008, you are in for a magical surprise! There have been many updates since then, including the opening of New Fantasyland at The Magic Kingdom. Dine at Be Our Guest Restaurant inside the beautiful castle from Disney's animated film, Beauty and the Beast. Take a look at the mines where 'a million diamonds shine' on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. While your children might be a little too small to enjoy the Seven Dwarfs coaster, I think they will love the new interactive queue under the Big Top at Dumbo The Flying Elephant. Right next door to Dumbo there is a fun splash area that will be a great way to beat the heat. Don't forget an extra set of clothes and towels!

Please let us know if you need anything else.

I am a recent graduate from Ball State University and mother to my 5-year-old son. We love all things Disney and when we aren’t watching Disney films or planning our next vacation, we love to go to touring Disney shows. I also love to cook, listen to music, read books, and paint. With my experience planning vacations and navigating the parks from a single parent’s perspective, I hope to be able to add a little “pixie dust” to your vacation! Learn More About Sarah
