I am a single mom taking two younger boys ages 7 & 9 for a trip in February 2015. What are the musts in terms of parks and dining? We will have a 4-5 day visit. Thank you!

Hello Clare, this will certainly be a special trip for you and your boys. I think your sons will enjoy all the theme parks as there are lots of attractions and shows that they would enjoy in each.

Here are some of my recommendations for things that boys that age will really enjoy. In Magic Kingdom, you won't want to miss riding the "mountains", Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Also in Magic Kingdom are Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and the Jungle Cruise. My son, who was 9 last summer, absolutely loved playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, too. Over at Epcot, be sure to do Soarin', Test Track and Mission: SPACE and don't miss Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, the nighttime laser and fireworks show around World Showcase Lagoon. There are some really amazing shows that are very appealing to young boys at Disney's Hollywood Studios. These include Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular and Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Also at Disney's Hollywood Studios are rides such as Star Tours and Toy Story Mania. Lastly, at Disney's Animal Kingdom, you must do Kilimanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids, Expedition Everest. There is also an interactive game throughout the park called Wilderness Explorers. My 7 year old absolutely loved this during our trip this past summer. It is included with park admission.

In regards to dining, I always feel that at least one character meal is a must-do for any Walt Disney World vacation. Our favorites are breakfast at 'Ohana or Chef Mickey's. Other fun places are Coral Reef and Biergarten in Epcot, and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Happy planning and feel free to ask more questions as they come up.
