I have several auto immune diseases. I have problems standing and walking distance so. I am also unable to be in sun, so I must use UV protected clothing which causes me to overheat. Do I need special paperwork to be accomadated.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Linda! Thank you for bringing us your question about your visit to Walt Disney World Resort this upcoming September! Soon, you'll be immersed in all the magic, I'm sure you can't wait!

I imagine you must be worried about waiting in line, the heat, etc. Let me tell you about a tool Disney has created to help people with medical conditions navigate the Parks with no discomfort. The Disability Access Service (DAS) Card, is a special program designed to accommodate guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue environment due to a disability or medical condition. It offers guests a return time for attractions based on the current wait times. If you qualify for this service, you and your party will all be eligible to receive a return time for another attraction once you finish your first attraction, and so on. The best thing is that this service can be used in addition to the FastPass+ service.

As soon as you arrive at the first park (any of the main four Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom), go to the Guest Relations Office and request to speak to a Cast Member about your condition. They may ask you a couple of questions to determine eligibility. They will most likely ask you to describe your medical problem but no documentation is necessary. If you qualify for this program, your MagicBand and everyone else's will need to be scanned. After that, will be all set and you may begin to use the benefit. You do not need to go over this process at the other Parks you visit since this benefit will be valid for your length of stay. Remember that the person DAS was entitled to must be present at all rides in order to redeem special entrance.

Linda, I am sure everything will be just fine! Please come back with more questions, as the time for your trip comes closer.

    Wishing the most pixie-dusted vacation,

    ~Desiree

Meet the Panelist: Desiree, Peru

Hi! I'm Desiree from Lima, Peru. My family will never ever tire of visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth, even if means traveling almost 3,000 miles to do so! My husband and I love to watch the fireworks with our kids, but the best magic happens when the grandparents come along and we all feel the same age in front of Cinderella Castle! I love giving tips about different types of resorts and traveling with multigenerational groups.
