We are set to sail out on the Wonder on October 31st and we are really excited about it. Today, my son fell and injured his knee which is requiring him to use crutches. Will the crutches prohibit him from joining the teen activities?

Cherlyn, welcome aboard! How exciting that you'll be setting sail on the Disney Wonder over Halloween! You are in for such a spooky fun time!

I'm so sorry to hear that your son was injured. That's never fun, but especially not when he's ready to set sail with Disney! I remember one time our family set sail on the Disney Wonder, after my husband had surgery on his foot. And though it wasn't ideal, he said he'd much rather be hobbling around the Disney Wonder than hobbling around his office back home! So, I hope your son is able to make the best out of it and still enjoy everything the ship has to offer!

He can absolutely still enjoy Vibe and the fun teen activities and events they have to offer. As always, I encourage teens to attend the first get-together in Vibe that first night of the cruise. That's when the awesome counselors there work with the kids to plan the upcoming activities, and they all get to know each other. There may be certain activities, like a basketball game, that he won't be able to join in on, but most other activities will be very accessible to him, whether they be in the club space itself or out and about on the ship. The counselors are wonderful about being sure everyone is included. There are teens in wheelchairs and crutches quite often, so the counselors are used to being sure they have what they need to participate with the other teens.

One more note you should know. Vibe is located on the Wonder in one of the smokestacks (the non-functioning one of course!), which means there is a steep set of stair to climb to enter the club. However, what some folks don't know is that there is a "secret" elevator entrance in the back of the club, so your son won't have to hassle with those stairs each time he comes and goes from the club. He'll be very happy about that!

    Happy planning, Cherlyn!
