    Roe from FL Asked

We have a sensory autistic grandson and will be visiting Disney world the week of 2/16/19 can we bring in food and drinks go for him into the park

    Hi Roe,

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah! Your magical vacation is nearly here! I hope that you're counting down the days and dreaming about all of the fun that you'll share with your grandson during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

I'm happy to let you know that yes, you may absolutely bring food and drinks with you into the theme parks. There are just a few restrictions like no large coolers or glass bottles, but but please feel free to bring things with you that will help him feel at home during his visit and keep his tumbly from getting rumbly like Winnie the Pooh's. As the mama of a child with autism myself, I also wanted to encourage you to bring anything else with you that might be helpful. We usually pack a sensory brush and other sensory toys as well as headphones and a small stuffed animal in case our Mouseketeer feels overstimulated. I'm happy to let you know, though, that our guy LOVES the Walt Disney World Resort and finds it completely magical.

Also, did you know that there are some wonderful services available for Guests traveling with special needs? Since your grandson has some sensory issues, he may struggle with waiting in traditional queues. I'd definitely suggest stopping at Guest Relations inside a theme park with your entire party when you first arrive to ask about the Disability Access Service. It's a huge blessing for many autistic kiddos!

Thanks for bringing your great question to us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Roe, and please let us know if we can help with anything else. I hope that you have a truly magical vacation later this month!
