We are scheduled to go to DW in August. This will be the first time for us. We told the kids about the trip thru an Easter Egg Hunt. What are some ideas out there that we can do with the kids prior to our trip? Countdowns, Maps???

Hi, Shannon! I love how you told your kids that you're going to Disney World! That kind of message within an Easter Egg Hunt trumps candy filled plastic eggs. Hard boiled eggs don't stand a chance when pitted against it. And, as much as it pains me to admit it, it's even better than a Cadbury egg.

We milk the pre-trip anticipation for all it's worth. In fact, Disney trip prep gave birth to our weekly Pizza & a Movie nights each Friday. It was a fun way to acclimate our kids to the characters' roots and prepare them for the ones we'd be meeting once we got to Disney World.

We also began our Disney Dance Parties (each Thursday and impromptu, as we deem fit) in preparation for our first family trip to Disney World. We choose from a host of streaming Disney Parks audio stations and an extensive library of Disney-related music on the iPod. Check out DTunesLive.com for my favorite Disney Parks audio. They have numerous servers of park music streaming all the time. The parade and fireworks stream is especially awesome for boogieing.

When it comes to counting down the days, our favorite method is creating a paper link chain. There's a paper link for each day until our trip. Each day, we tear off a link and watch the chain get smaller and our trip get closer.
