we have scheduled our first Disney vacation for early August. We are concerned about crowds and waiting in long lines. Would you recommend the VIP magic kingdom classic package?

Greetings, Meredith! You are in for one magical family vacation in August! Since it’s your first trip, I’m sure that you will be overwhelmed by the intense amount of things to do at Walt Disney World Resort, so I’ll try to recommend a few ways to see a lot of things in a little bit of time. Hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy everything!

The VIP tours are AMAZING! My guide for Day of Ultimate Thrills, Angela, was a complete fairy Godmother, whisking us to over 10 rides plus lunch and “backstage” transportation in less than 8 hours. We covered the best of the 4 parks, with FastPass+ lines and a few surprises. The Magic Kingdom version of that same tour I’d highly recommend for your family to get the most of the insanely popular park. The Ultimate Disney Classics VIP tour is only four hours with at least 10 attractions, so it would be a serious highlight on your vacation!

Another way to make the most of your time is to make use of the Extra Magic Hours that Disney Resort Hotel guests can participate in. An hour or so before regular guests can enter the park, on-property guests can experience rides, attractions, characters and more. Our family loves morning Extra Magic Hours, especially with our small kids, since we’re up early. We’ll often be able to ride 6 or 7 things in 90 minutes and make the most of our day. Lastly, make good use of your FastPass+ reservations. Scheduling your first 3 early in the day allows you to make more later, plan accordingly for lunch, naps, or special reservations. It’s a great way to have lots of fun with few lines.

If I can be of more help, please let me know. I’d love to recommend specific rides or attractions that your family would adore! Have a pixie-dusted vacation! ~ Lindsey P.
