    Sarah from MS Asked

Sarah, thank you for answering my question! You really helped! Do you have any other advice/suggestions for me? This is my kids 1st time to go and I want to make this an awesome trip for them. I have the meal plan and we are staying at the All Star Movie

Hello again, Sarah! I do have some other suggestions. Since you have the Dining Plan you should plan as many Character Dining Experiences as possible. Not only do you get a delicious meal, but you also get to meet several Disney Characters, which could free up your park touring time because you won't be spending as much time standing in character meet and greet lines. Because many Character Dining Experiences are buffet style, I suggest that you go quickly to get all of your food and bring it back to your table because you don't want to miss any of the characters. The characters will make their rounds to each of the tables during your meal, and sometimes you will get to see them twice depending on how long you stay. I understand buffet style meals can be tricky as a single parent because you are trying to help each child and also get a plate for yourself. Any time there is an opportunity to grab another plate, do it!

I know you said in your previous question that you have a 7 and 5 year old. I brought an umbrella stroller for my 5 year old and I was very happy that I did. Even though he can walk fine, he did get worn out by the end of the night, and so the stroller prevented a meltdown. The stroller came in handy for storage also, which is another single parent plus. You are the one that has to carry everybody's things all through the park, and this is where the stroller can be helpful. You can also rent a locker in the parks.
Another thing that has helped me tremendously is bringing a portable phone charger. During a regular day my phone does not die, but at Disney it usually dies right in the middle of the day. I use my phone for pictures, checking the time, and also the My Disney Experience App. The App has wait times for all of the attractions at each park, and is amazing for single parents trying to find attractions with shorter wait times.

Again I have run out of space, but if you need anything don't hesitate to ask!

I am a recent graduate from Ball State University and mother to my 5-year-old son. We love all things Disney and when we aren’t watching Disney films or planning our next vacation, we love to go to touring Disney shows. I also love to cook, listen to music, read books, and paint. With my experience planning vacations and navigating the parks from a single parent’s perspective, I hope to be able to add a little “pixie dust” to your vacation! Learn More About Sarah
