Sailing May 2015 on the Disney Dream trying to plan fun things to do on Castaway Cay if we do the stingray adventure can we use the same snorkel equipment over in the other snorkeling area or do we have to rent the equipment twice. Thank you Moms Panel

    Ahoy, Donna!

Castaway Cay is definitely my family's favorite port on a Disney Cruise. It is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. We have gone to Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure and really enjoyed it. The interaction with the stingrays is informational as well as really cool.

As stated on the Disney Cruise Line website, the snorkel equipment at Castaway Ray's in for use only in the stingray lagoon. If you wish to snorkel in the 22 acre snorkel lagoon off of Castaway's Family Beach, you will need to rent equipment from Gils' Fin and Boats or Flippers n Floats. You are also welcome to bring your own snorkel equipment (which is what we always do, thank goodness for free checked luggage!).

Please be aware that the underwater treasures in the snorkel lagoon are a bit of a swim, so I only recommend strong swimmers take the challenge. The "treasures" are all marked with floating buoys, so if you follow the trail, you should find some very neat things!

I hope you love your visit to Castaway Cay! Please come back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask other cruise planning questions!

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
