Hi Moms! We are sailing on the Fantasy on 9/27/14 to the Caribbean and I wanted to know if it is better to take cash when in port for souvenirs or if traveler's checks are a safer bet? Also 2 of our excursions involve water - are there lockers provided?

You are on your final countdown, Randi!

Excitement is already in the air and I'm sure you have everything lined up and ready to go for your upcoming magical cruise to the Caribbean. Did you plan anything spooktacular to wear as a costume for Mickey's Mouse-querade Party?  Are you going for a spot-on Disney look for you and your family members? You never know, you've got a chance to bag the prize for best family/group costume. No doubt, your Halloween on the High Seas celebration will be loads of fun.

Whenever we visit a port city on any of our voyages, we usually bring extra cash or a credit card when shopping or sightseeing. I wish I could tell you when I last used a traveler's check... but it has been ages. Souvenir shops and merchants are pretty accustomed to accepting credit cards. It's the most convenient and widely accepted (next to cash) method of payment for goods & services. There's always an ATM nearby. If you are getting ready to leave the ship, you can always stop by Guest Services or the Port Adventures desk to ask where the closest ATM machine is at the port. There is no ATM machine on board, but conveniently, if you bring your US personal check, the Guest Services desk offers check cashing services up to $100 for guests.

Port Adventures might not have lockers available. But, more than likely, your excursion will have an area where you can keep your day bag safe - or keep it within viewing distance. If you know you'll be spending most of your time in the water, I would suggest taking a small beach bag for some of your belongings, and pack minimally for the day.

I hope this helps, Randi! Bon Voyage!
