Hi RunDisney Mom...I am thinking of running the WDW 1/2 in Jan....was wondering if ipods were acceptable? Do they have music for you over the speakers? What all is going on to entertain you on your run? When can I book a room for January? Thanks:)

Hi Kristin!  The Disney World Half is a great race!
You can run with an ipod.  A lot of people do.  I train with one, but when it comes to running through Disney World, I really enjoy just taking it all in and not having music in my ears!  RunDisney races are by far the most entertaining races available.  There are characters all throughout the course, DJ's playing upbeat music at different spots, marching bands, Disney movies playing on big screens, and so much more!  Plus, you get to run through Magic Kingdom Park.  It really is just one exciting thing after another! The only thing I take with me is my phone so I can take pictures along the route.
You can book your room as early as you like.  All of the resorts will be host resorts during Marathon weekend, so no matter where you stay, buses will be available to take you to and from race events all weekend.  After registering for your race, you will be eligible to book your room with a runner's discount.  All of the information will be posted on the Disney World Marathon website page very soon.  You could always book your room now, and then call back to get the discount applied, or simply wait until they have the information posted about runner's room rates.  Registration opens up on April 10!
I hope this helps!  See you at the race!
