What are the rules as far as if someone in our family needed to rent a scooter? Is there a special line for them or they just wait in line with everyone else?

Hi, Jesiree!  Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

One of the things that I love the most about the Walt Disney World Resort is that their Disability Services make the magic accessible for everyone.  I have several extended family members who experience mobility issues.  When they visit the Walt Disney World Resort, they rent electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs)/scooters.  The procedure for guests using ECVs varies depending on the attraction.  At some attractions, guests can remain in their ECV throughout the regular queue.  At others, ECV users will need to access the attraction via an alternate entrance.  Just talk to a friendly Cast Member at the attraction entrance and they will be able to direct you where to go.

Depending on the severity of your family member's mobility needs, you may want to consider renting an ECV from a Disney Featured Provider.  You will find a list of Disney Featured Providers on the ECV Rental page of the Walt Disney World website that I have linked in the above paragraph.  Guests can rent ECVs at any Walt Disney World theme park, water park, or Disney Springs.  However, these are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must remain at that location.  Renting from a Disney Featured Provider gives the guest access to an ECV for their entire visit.  Many companies will deliver ECVs directly to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel and pick it up there at the end of your stay.  In my opinion, this is the most convenient option for a guest with mobility needs.

If you have any additional questions or concerns about your family member's mobility needs, feel free to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or disability.services@disneyparks.com, or stop by any Guest Relations location.

Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
