You ROCK! U make planning easier and more fun! We arrive (11/13/12)@ 4:30pm (anticipate getting to resort arounf 6/6:30pm). Was wondering if the Fork and Screen theatre was worth doing 1st night OR would a nice restaurant/ fireworks be better?Thoughts?

    Hi Katie,

I've dined at the AMC Fork & Screen movie theater at Downtown Disney three times. I'll admit that the first time you go there, the concept is super cool: real food, with real dishes, and an adult beverage while you watch a first-run movie. Nice!

However, I have to tell you that while the food is good, it's not amazingly good. I'd put it at about the level of a Pizzaria Uno, Olive Garden, or Chili's. And frankly, you could see a movie anywhere. It's a fun experience, but not a uniquely Disney experience.

On the other hand, if you went to, say, the California Grill, you would have truly delicious food with a view of Cinderella Castle and, if you timed it right, a bird's eye view of the Wishes fireworks presentation. That's something you can only do at Disney. You could have a similar experience at Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian. Another nice choice might be Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. This restaurant offers a view of the savanna, where you might see zebra while you dine.

So, my vote is clearly for something more Disney than Fork and Screen for the introduction to your vacation.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
