Rider switch: Do you need to Fast Pass these rides still? For everyone in the group? Party1 A&B wait with child whilst Party2 C&D ride, can A&B then go on after or does it have to be C or D & another adult from A&B?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Hannah! What a great way to go about talking about Rider Switch! A-D riders are going to be GOOFY with joy when I help detail this out for you.

My family used Rider Switch often, as we have a young child that is not tall (or brave) enough to manage many attractions. I make FP+ for two people in our family (A&B). We, as a family, approach the FP+ with A&B in it, Me, as C with baby and stroller to the side. A&B ask for a Rider Switch Pass, and take it through and enjoy the attraction. After exiting the ride, A&B pass it to me, C to enjoy the ride. I often take B back with me (because C is allowed to take a buddy or two, depending on the attraction. Please see paper Rider Switch tickets for details). If C&D wanted to ride together because they waited with Baby, all they would have to do is have the paper ticket retrieved from A&B. Easy Peasy. If D decided he didn’t want to ride, C could easily take A or B on a “second” trip around. That’s how my son gets to ride so many roller coasters twice in one trip!

C and buddy do not need a FP+ reservation, because the Rider Switch allows them to use the FP+ queue. But A&B, since they are riding first will need a FP+ or they will need to use the standby queue. If I can help you out with other ways to make travel with tots easier, please let me know. You’ve got a friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
