Rider switch: Must all "group 2" riders have their bands scanned? Or just 1 person from group 2, who could then bring an additional 2 people? Ex I ride and Hubby gets a rider switch pass. He returns with my parents (not scanned) and all 3 ride.

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Nicole! I’m glad you are asking about the updated Disney’s Rider Switch Service.

Walt Disney World Resort vacations are so much fun because there is something for everyone to enjoy! Having said that, sometimes it’s difficult for parents to enjoy the attractions with thrills because our little ones can’t or don’t want to ride them. The great news is, Walt Disney World Resort has come up with the amazing Rider Switch Service so we can all have fun without waiting around much!

When you go to the greeting Cast Member working at the attraction, you will need to take your entire party to get your Magic Bands or Theme Park tickets scanned, including the extra two Guests, in this case being your parents. Allow me to explain how we used the Rider Switch Service recently:

My husband, two sons, and I visited Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios recently. Three of us wanted to ride Slinky Dog Dash, but our little guy couldn’t. My 5 year old son and I were able to score FastPass+ selections to the attraction! Our entire family went up to the Cast Member at Slinky Dog Dash and we explained that we wanted to use the Rider Switch Service. The Cast Member then scanned my husband’s and 5 year old son’s (who will now get to enjoy the ride twice!) MagicBands to issue them a Rider Switch entitlement.

My husband and little guy waited while our 5 year old and I enjoyed the thrill and excitement of Slinky Dog Dash. Once we were through, we went to the designated waiting area to meet my husband and little guy. I took our little one and my husband and 5 year old went through the FastPass+ queue to enjoy Slinky Dog Dash! Since they had already tapped their MagicBands previously, the system knows to allow them to go through the FastPass+ line!

Be sure to have your parents tap their MagicBands at the beginning with your husband so that the system knows to allow them in as his two additional Guests.

Nicole, I hope you and your family have the most enchanting vacation!
