When a ride has a specified height..does it mean that the kids who are shorter cannot ride at all, or that they have to be accompanied by an adult?

    Hi Tonia!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Oh, height requirements! I can still remember my brother’s reaction during one of my family’s visits back in 1991. He was 4-years-old and was not allowed to ride Space Mountain because he did not meet the minimum height requirement. Let me just say it took my parents balloons, candy, gifts, and even days to mend his broken heart. Back then he obviously did not understand that safety was a top priority at the Walt Disney World Resort, and it continues to be so today.

To ensure the well-being of all Guests, each attraction has its own safety rules, including height requirements. Even if a parent volunteers to board an attraction with their child, they are still not going to be allowed to ride as this can put the child and other Guests in danger. Also, even when children under the age of 7 meet height requirements for an attraction, they must still be accompanied by a Guest age 14 years or older to ride.

I always talked to my daughter before visiting the Walt Disney World Resort to explain that she would not be allowed to experience certain attractions because of her height, but that in the future she would be able to ride as many times as she wanted as a big girl. We always placed emphasis on the great attractions that she would truly be able to enjoy, and it always worked out fine. Check the list of attractions and filter them by height to see which ones are suitable for your children.
