    Kristina from CA Asked

Can retired mitary personnel purchase Memory Maker at discounted rate and gift it to someone else even if military personnel is not going to any of the parks?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kristina! Please tell (or direct to you!) the member of your family thank you for their service to our country! Veterans and active military mean a lot to both me and the Disney family!

Rules state that for Military Salute Tickets as well as the Military Resort Room discount, a military member must be present and utilize one of the tickets or stay in that room. Memory Maker is slightly fluid due to the “linkability” inside My Disney Experience. Last year, my extended family went on a “Racecation” for the Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon Weekend. I ran the shorter races while my brother decided to take on the whole weekend (and took home the Inaugural Dark Side Challenge Medal). My brother was kind enough to use his military discount on Military Salute Tickets and Resort rooms as well as Memory Maker. Since our large family was linked together in order to make plans for the trip (FastPass+ reservations, etc.), we were able to load up pictures to his Memory Maker. Even though my brother was running the Half Marathon while we had breakfast in the park, our photo with Tinkerbell still showed up on his account. The short answer to your question is a partial yes, but the service member will still have to be present to purchase the Memory Maker (available at Walt Disney World ticket windows) with a valid military ID. They will also have to be the lead on the entitlement, meaning only they can download the photos. Anyone else on vacation with them would still be able to capture and scan photos with characters or Cinderella Castle.

If I can answer any more questions about your trip planning, please let me know. I’m hEAR for you, every step of the way! ~ Lindsey P.
