what resort do you recommend for the tight budget w/ three year old?

    Hi Kelley,

Here are a few suggestions for experiencing "Disney on a Dime" (well, ok, maybe a quarter!)  First, pick a Value Resort.  There are four wonderfully-themed resorts to chose from (Movies, Music, Pop Century and Sports) and all have huge, kid-friendly pools, great food-court style restaurants, free transportation to all of the theme parks, and all of the "Disney perks" including extra magic hours which allow for additional time in the parks before and after they open for the general public.  I would visit www.allears.net, where you can see detailed pictures and reviews of each of the properties to help make your lodging decision.

Disney is currently offering one of the best promotions I have seen to date, with it's "Buy Four, Get Three Free" package that includes park tickets.  This special has recently been extended and is available for many nights through August 15, 2009.  Be sure to check www.disneyworld.com for current specials, and to see if this option works for your desired travel dates.

Next, if you are flying into Orlando International Airport, be sure to sign up for Disney's Magical Express a FREE luggage and transportation service.  Magic Express will allow you to bypass baggage claim at the airport, and head directly to a luxury coach that will take you to your resort.  This will potentially save hundreds of dollars on a rental car, and lots of aggravation at baggage!

Other money saving tips include stocking your room with some staples like cereal, bread, etc. and having breakfast in your room.  In addition, carry a soft cooler bag with water bottles and/or frozen juice boxes to save on concessions in the park and keep your tot happy.  Finally, pre-buy rain ponchos at a local dollar store.  You can outfit a whole family for less than the cost of one in the parks.

Above all, have a wonderful vacation!
