Hi! Our reservations for SciFi diner theatre are for 8:50pm, the last time available. Is the service fast enough to have us leave at 9:25 to see A Galactic Spectacular? Is there a chance to just show up on the day and get seated without a reservation? Thx

Hello, Nicole, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is my family’s favorite table-service restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Typically, we have had to wait 10-15 minutes past our reservation time before we’ve been seated, so there is a chance you might not get to your table until 9 p.m. If you preview the menu in advance and are ready to order as soon as you sit down, you could conceivably be finished by 9:30, but in my experience we typically spend about an hour dining there.

Since you’re still a few months away from your arrival at Walt Disney World Resort, I would recommend trying to modify your reservation through My Disney Experience to see if an earlier time is available (if you also want to see Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular that same evening). As far as being seated without a reservation is concerned, it is possible, but probably not without a long wait. I’ve also been there when the host or hostess has said there isn’t any walk-up availability, so I would definitely have an alternate plan in place in case you choose to go that route. My family and I also love grabbing a quick lunch at ABC Commissary, where Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering is available. After June 2, 2019, you can also reserve a table at ABC Commissary, too.

I hope you enjoy your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Nicole! Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help you plan your vacation. We’re happy to help!
