Hi! We have reservations for myself, my husband and my son in June. My son will be turning 2 years old on the day that we get there. Will he eat free on the dining plan even though he doesn't have a ticket & do they do special stuff for bdays? Thanks

    Hi Stephanie,

Walt Disney World is an amazing place to celebrate a birthday, whether you're 2 or 82! Because your son is too young to need a ticket, you are welcome to share with him for free from your meals on the Disney Dining Plan. This works especially well at buffets and all-you-care-to-eat venues.

The only time you will need to pay out of pocket is if you want to order a kids meal for him or something that isn't covered with your meal.

Make sure you get a free Happy Birthday button for him when you arrive at Walt Disney World, and let the host or server know that you are celebrating his birthday when you are seated. Cast members and other guests off special greetings to those who are wearing the buttons and often a cast member will offer some extra birthday magic as a celebration surprise.

Some restaurants have birthday rituals as well. Chef Mickey's, for example, has a birthday recognition song  and guests twirl their napkins in the airs in celebration.

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your questions. I hope this was helpful. Please let us know if we can do anything else to assist as you make your plans. Enjoy!
