I have a reservation booked for port orleans resort on 11th december but due to a family incident we have had to change our flight to the 12th and so will arrive a day late.? is will we lose our dining credits for this day & should i let the hotel know

If you are going to arrive a day late, then you should absolutely 100% tell Disney about this. You can do this by calling the main WDW reservations number at 407-W-DISNEY. If you no-show for your room and don't let them know, they may think that you're not coming and give away your room.

As for your Dining Plan credits - whether you lose them depends on whether you pay for the hotel for the first night of your trip. You may be able to work out with Disney reservations a modification to your trip where your hotel starts a day later. If this is the case, then you would not receive Dining Plan credits for your first night. However, if you end up having to pay for the hotel on the 11th, then you would certainly receive dining credits for that night. Again, you need to speak with Disney reservations directly to confirm the specifics of your individual package.

If you do end up having extra dining credits, you could burn them up by eating at a dinner show or signature dining restaurant that requires two credits per meal.

Good luck with your planning and enjoy your WDW vacation.
