    Dee from PA Asked

Hello.  Regarding parades, my mother is older in her 80's and my parents will be joining us on our next vacation. I was wondering if there are benches where my mom might be able to sit during the parades? I would really love an answer.

    Hi Dee!

There are benches in some locations, but they are not abundant and very popular.  Another problem with this plan is that, even if you are fortunate enough to score a bench, the crowd will probably step in front and block your mother's view.

Will she be able to walk in the parks?  When we tour with older family members (80's and 90's) they have always used a wheelchair to get around.  There are push chairs and ECVs both available for rental at the park entrances, or you can reserve one through an independent agency for use through your entire stay (as we have done).  This really makes touring the parks a lot easier and more enjoyable for everyone.  If you go that route, then your mom could have parade viewing from one of several wheelchair areas reserved along the parade routes.  They will allow a few family members to watch with her, and it makes for a much less stressful trip for elderly visitors.  We've done this with my Grama and my husband's Granny when they visited with us and it was a lifesaver!  Or at least a TRIPsaver.  :)

    Enjoy your visit!
