    Do you recommend vacation insurance?

Typically I do not get vacation insurance because we usually do not travel during the hurricane season and I usually book my trip components separately.

I have always gotten insurance when booking a package including for a Disney cruise, especially since the cancellation policies for packages have been getting stricter.

Vacation insurance is a great idea when:

*Traveling in the hurricane season. Airport closures and delays can wreak havoc on your plans. In this case, I would protect my vacation investment.

*Someone in your family is prone to illness that could delay or cancel your trip.

Make sure the policy that you secure has the components that would protect your family’s needs. Are you concerned about injuries, unemployment, jury duty?

I would make sure that whatever policy you purchase protects for airline delays and pre-existing medical conditions, if needed.  There are many places on the internet where you can comparison shop for trip insurance. Read the fine print!
