Can you recommend a good protective camera bag that should keep my DSLR camera safe from the shaking coasters like space mountain, Everest , and thunder mountain?

    Welcome Back, Valorie!

Guests are more than welcome to bring personal items like purses, backpacks and camera bags on all Walt Disney World Resort attractions, even the most thrilling and daring of rides. I think the answer to this question of which bag is best depends on how you plan to take pictures: are you bringing multiple lenses and a small tripod or stabilizing stick? Or, do you mainly plan to 'point-and-shoot' and don't really need anything else?

If you can get away with a bag just big enough for your camera body and one lens, with a side zipper for an extra memory card and back up battery, it should be small enough to fit in the on-ride storage pocket found on every ride with a sharp tilt, turn, loop, sudden drop or sudden stop. If you're planning on bringing a lot more gear, look for a bigger two-strap backpack or one-strap sling style bag that you can step through and 'secure' behind your legs while riding. Personally, I don't like the 'across the body' messenger style, medium-size bags that hold one complete camera and one extra lens. I think these are awkward on attractions as they are too big for the seat pocket but are too small to sit at my feet and still feel them against my legs mid-ride.

Most actual camera bags on the market today do have well planned and padded individual compartments for the various pieces. And interestingly enough, science-forces from the rides (not the Dark Side) will keep the items in the bag mostly undisturbed. But you can also add a sock or wash cloth in the compartments to really wedge your parts in to place. AmazonBasics has a whole line of affordable camera bags; I have a few of their other protective pieces and have been really happy with the quality.

We'll See You Real Soon, Valorie!
