What would you recommend doing with a 2.5 year for a week at WDW? Is this too much time to spend at one time at WDW with a child this young?

    Hey James,

Excellent question! I'm a huge advocate of taking infants/toddlers/preschoolers to Walt Disney World. Speaking from personal experience, a week's vacation will be a perfect amount of time. (In fact, you may find that your child will be kicking and screaming at the thought of leaving!)

After reading your question, I immediately had a dozen tips come to mind. However, I think all of my experience can be summarized in one simple tip:

Let your child be the tour guide.

Here are a few examples of what I mean:

    1) Both of my children really love parades. They love to sing along, dance on the sidewalks, and wave to all of the characters and performers. As such, we try to fit in as many parades as reasonably possible.

    2) Both of my children really love fireworks, but not from a close vantage point (the loud explosions scare them). So, we find vantage points to watch the fireworks that are far enough away so they can tolerate the noise.

    3) Many of the attractions have interactive elements in the queues, which my children absolutely love. So, I'll let people go ahead of us in line so they can enjoy those experiences for as long as they'd like.

Here's a bonus tip from your buddy Derek:

Some of my favorite Disney memories came from spontaneous encounters (e.g. street performers, character meet-and-greets, or even times when my children want to stop and soak in the environment around them). Keep a flexible schedule so you don't feel pressured to blow past those experiences if they grab your child's attention. Walt Disney World offers so many sensory experiences for young children, so be prepared for your child to experience wonder and amazement around every corner.

I hope that helps! If you should have any other questions, please feel free to write back and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
