I have recently had the gastric sleeve surgery, My doctor has provided me with a card that allows me to purchase meals at a child's price. Does Disney restraunts honor those? Also will Disney allow you to purchase the child's dining plan with that card?

Hi, Brandy, and welcome to "Loser"ville! Through the years, I've experienced a variety of responses to my gastric bypass surgery at Walt Disney World, and a lot of it is just through a trial and error method. It never hurts to ask for what you'd like, but I am always prepared to not get what I want.

Some restaurants will allow you to order from the children's menu without an issue, and at quick service locations, where you order at the counter, it really doesn't matter what you order for the most part - they never ask if you have a child with you when you order a children's menu item. However, most table service restaurants do not honor "The Card". Some restaurants are more flexible, but honestly, a lot of what is on a children's menu is designed more for a child's palate. You might find it better to browse the soups or appetizers and skip an entree, or if you are traveling with someone, share a meal with them. My husband will sometimes order an appetizer and share his entree with me, or if he's still hungry, he'll grab a dessert or a snack somewhere else. Buffets will be charged at an adult price.

As for the Disney Dining Plan, they do not offer the option to purchase a child's plan if you are an adult. The Disney Dining Plan is tied into your theme park passes, and an adult pass must be associated with an adult dining plan. You will find some restaurants that will allow you to use your credits for a children's meal, but it's generally not a great value to have the Disney Dining Plan post-op.

Wishing you much luck with your weight loss!
