Buffet dining

We recently found out our daughter has food allergies. I know the restaurants will make accommodations, but are some of the restaurants better at this than others? We have been to WDW many times but this will be the first time factoring in food allergies.

Hi, Ashley! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

A few years ago, my family ended up in the hospital on Christmas Eve because my then 5-year-old had a handful of cashews and we realized that she had a pretty severe nut allergy! Needless to say, I was nervous about my upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation as we were on the Disney Dining Plan, but I can tell you that it was truly a great experience! First, I suggest contacting Disney Dining Reservations to add a note to your file for each Advanced Dining Reservation that you have made. Then, make sure to reconfirm the allergy with your waiter at the Disney Restaurant (they usually already have it on file at this point). Sometimes, the chef would even come out to talk to my family about our options. My daughter’s food was always brought out separate from everyone else's, to ensure there was no cross-contamination. We found that the buffet restaurants were always the trickiest to navigate as cross-contamination is almost always possible, so you might want to avoid those.

When it comes to Quick Service options, many Disney Restaurants have Allergy-Friendly menus. You may have to ask for these from a friendly Cast Member if you do not see them upon arrival.

Finally, if your daughter has a number of allergies, I would suggest emailing Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com to inform them at least 14 days before your arrival. They can help you navigate Disney Restaurants as well as menus.

Have a magical time and bon appetit!
