    Ysenia from MI Asked

Hello, is it really necessary to make ADR's? Other then the character dinners will it be a problem to get in for dinner at the other restaurants? I'm just worried if my kids are having fun at the parks that I'm going to rush them out for a DR. Thanks :)

    Hi Ysenia!

Generally speaking, the answer is "yes, you should make Advanced Dining Reservations".  However, it really depends on when you are going.  If you are going during a busy time of the year (such as when children are generally out of school) or during Free Dining then the answer is "absolutely yes"; many restaurants will not even accept walk ups during those times.

However, if you are going during a less busy time of the year then it is not as important, unless you want to eat in a popular restaurant or eat in a particular spot at a particular time.  For example, you could walk up to most of the restaurants in the various hotels in Walt Disney World when the parks are not busy; the exceptions are the Character Dining Experiences and very popular restaurants such as California Grill in the Contemporary and Ohana in the Polynesian.  Eating in a theme park is harder to do as a walk up.

All of this said, my recommendation is to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs).  That will give you the most options in terms of where you can dine and when.  You can always cancel an ADR the day of if you don't need it!  ADRs can be made online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE.

Enjoy planning and have a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
