I just realized we planned our full Magic kingdom day for Febuary 21st 2016 (half marathon Sunday) with hard to get reservationsHow will crowds/traffic affect us? Our first reservation is for breakfast at 8:15am at Be Our Guest, staying at Saratoga Springs

    Hi Kristine!

You might want to pack your favorite noise-maker.  The energy of runners reaching their goals at Walt Disney World Resort during Princess Half Marathon Weekend is contagious.

You will be relieved to know that crowd levels are pretty reasonable this weekend.  Of course, you will want to be sure to reserve access to your favorite attractions using FastPass+ as normal. As a Guest at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, you can schedule those now since your vacation begins in less than 60-days!  How exciting!

Transportation around Walt Disney World Resort will slow before noon during the weekend as some major roads are closed for the runners.  You didn't mention if you will have a car, but I urge you strongly to use the bus transportation system in the mornings. The bus drivers will be well versed in the alternative routes.

I would plan to arrive at the bus stop by 6:30 am for your 8:15 am reservation at Be Our Guest Restaurant. This accounts for possibility of a 20-minute wait for a bus, extra time above the normal 15-minute commute from your Resort Hotel to Magic Kingdom Park, as well as your journey from the bus area to the Beast's Castle in Fantasyland.

While Magic Kingdom Park opens officially at 9 am that morning, Guests have access through the main entrance to Main Street, U.S.A beginning at 5:30 am to chEAR on their runners. If you find that you have overestimated your travel time, join in the excitement and encourage those final runners as they head to Cinderella Castle!

    Wishing you many magical moments,

    Sally

"To all who come to this happy place, welcome." I am the lucky wife to my brave Prince and a stay-at-home mom to two bold and brilliant little girls; one a Jedi Padawan and the other a Princess. Joining the Disney Vacation Club meant that our family could travel to a "World of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy" as often as we could sneak away, so we do! I would be thrilled to sprinkle a little Pixie Dust on your next unforgettable vacation. Learn More About Sally
