How realistic it would be to walk-in to a table service restaurant (3rd week of Aug 2010) in Disney w/o a reservation and w/o waiting forever? I'm thinking about the Disney Dining Plan, but I don't want to plan our vacation around restaurant reservations

    Hi Stephanie!

I completely understand the feeling. We got the Deluxe Dining Plan on our trip last year and felt the entire vacation was dictated by where we had to eat next or had reserved. We didn't have the flexibility desired, and with 2 kids (ages 6 and 2), having small pockets of flexibility can be life savers :-)

That being said, it is a big gamble to walk in without reservations, or immediately be seated. I've heard families do this and it worked out well for them, and others couldn't get a seat anywhere. My recommendation is always reserve the "must do" restaurants, to ensure you experience those at the top of your list. Or break the monotony by choosing your table service for dinner one day, and breakfast for another, that way you don't feel compelled around the same time each day to "book it" to a dining place.

Good luck! Hope all your Disney planning goes with ease!
