I read somewhere that disney offers discounts to military families.  I also thought I read that it offered it to public servants such as police officers.  Do you know?

You might be thinking of the Swan and Dolphin resorts on Disney property.  Both offer discounted deluxe accommodations for those in public service (teachers, federal, and state employees among others) as well as most of the amenities extended to Disney resort hotel guests.

In the past, Disney has offered discounted and even free admission for military families and those in other public service related careers.  They've also offered military members steep discounts on resort room rates in the past, though I'm unaware of any current offers.  Military and certain other Department of Defense civilians are eligible to stay at Shades of Green, a military owned and operated resort on Disney property.  Discounted admission tickets can also be purchased there by those with proper ID.
