I've read a lot about pooh sized guests but most comments are from 300 lb guests. My father is a bit more extreme at 450 lbs. Will that cause a problem on any attractions beyond what's normal for a pooh sized guest?

    Hi Rachel,

Great question! Disney appreciates that their guests come in all shapes and sizes, so they want to make sure that everyone has the time of their lives.

I've spoken to numerous guests who have observed Walt Disney World to be the most accessible vacation destination, so I hope I'll be able to help ease your father's worries!

Three common concerns for accessibility in the theme parks are: (1) turnstiles; (2) theater seating; and (3) attraction vehicles. That being said, let me share a few thoughts that might help:

    #1 - Turnstiles

While many of the turnstiles have been removed over the years, some still exist. In those cases, there are alternate points of entry (e.g. swing gates) where cast members can help your father enter the attraction or show area.

    #2 - Theater Seating

The theater seats found around Walt Disney World are similar to those found in your typical movie theater. If your father will be using an electric scooter, the theater-style attractions have areas for guests to enjoy the show from their scooter if that would be a more comfortable option.

    #3 - Attraction Vehicles

Your father should be fine with most of the attraction vehicles, but some that have low entry points (e.g. Space Mountain or Splash Mountain) may be a bit of a challenge to climb in and out of. Also, for the attraction vehicles that have seat belts, cast members can provide extenders if one is needed.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

If you're in doubt about a particular attraction, consult the cast members that are stationed outside of the attraction and they can assist you in determining if any accessibility challenges may exist.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
