I've read in a few books that certain days at the most popular theme parks are most crowded and you might want to avoid them on that day, but those are actually the same days the parks open early or close very late. Should those parks be avoided?

Hey, Brad! Good question. It's one that you could pose to a Magic 8 ball and get a workable answer every time. The devil is in the details.

You can cover a lot of ground with morning Extra Magic Hours. Most resort guests will flock to the park that has morning Extra Magic Hours. Not all of them will arrive prior to the park opening to take full advantage of that extra hour. If you can get to the park prior to it opening for its Extra Magic Hours, do it. Enjoy a productive morning and then park hop and/or take a midday break around lunchtime.

Evening Extra Magic Hours don't draw the size of crowds as morning Extra Magic Hours do. Many guests can't smell what the rock is cooking and bail before the park closes for resort guest. I say consider taking advantage of evening Extra Magic Hours, especially if it helps extend your day and experience more attractions. In the event you don't do the evening Extra Magic Hours, consider going to that park the following morning. Since many resort guests are there the night prior (for the magic hours,) they won't be returning to the same park that next morning, which leads to lower crowd levels at that park for you to use in your favor.
