Read about going back to hotel for rest during day when visiting parks. What time do you recommend leaving hotel to return back to MK or HS in the evening. Staying at POFQ. What time should we make ADR at the park after our return that evening?

Hi, Amy! You're on your way to perfect planning with these kinds of questions. Going back to the hotel for a midday break is an excellent idea. It's a time of day when attractions experience their longest wait times, and it gives parents and kids a chance to recharge and prepare for a more relaxed evening. Essentially, a win-win.

A good rule of thumb is to allow one hour for travel time between the resort and a park. It usually doesn't take that long, but it's a lot easier to stomach time gained than time lost.

Here's an example for how we bring it all together:

We make our dinner ADRs to be around 5:30 p.m. Doing so allows us to have lunch in the park in the 11:00 a.m. hour before returning to our resort. That puts us back in our room between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. In a perfect world, that's a three to four hour nap, and it's surprising how easy the kids will crash and snooze during that time. In the event that the long nap doesn't manifest, take a dip in the pool and then head out for the park around 4:30 p.m.

    Have a good trip!
