Hi - re arrival times at ports on an Alaska cruise. I realize arrival times on the itinerary are approximate. How long after the estimated arrival time, are folks able to start heading to port city? Do we need to allow added time for docking? Thx!

    Hello, Leslie!

Thanks for cruising back in with a great question. Alaska is such an awesome itinerary on the Disney Cruise, I'm sure you've got your port adventures all set up and you've got most of everything lined up. You will have such a blast!

The estimated arrival time at each port will usually have the docking and ship positioning already considered. Once the ship is ready and the gangway is set to open, a shipboard announcement will also be on the speaker system for everyone to hear. The morning announcement will also advise all guests which deck to go to as the exit gangway to use. If you have a port adventure scheduled for the day, arrive a few minutes early at your onboard meeting place. You will need to have your Key to the World Card, photo identification, and your port adventure tickets. Cast members will check you in, and they'll get everyone ready to walk and exit the ship all together.

Check the personal navigator the night before to find out what time the buffet or restaurants open for Breakfast.  You can grab a quick bite to eat before you start your day, but if you need extra zzzzz's in your stateroom, you can always choose to have breakfast delivered by the complimentary 24-hour room service. If you are exploring on your own for the day, then you are welcome to exit the ship through the gangway shortly after arrival time at the port. Don't forget to bring your Key to the World Card and your photo ID with you. Make sure you are aware of the all-aboard time that day... and be on board way before that time.

Here's additional tips from my fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelist, Nancy, on the Alaskan voyage. Have a great time, Leslie!
