Hi! 1) Are there any 5k races in the near future and if so when? 2) When should I begin training whenever there is one? 3)What are the perks of running in a WDW race esp if my family (2 +me) joins me?

    Hi, Susan!

Here are dates for your next opportunity to participate in a runDisney 5K, the most magical 3.1 miles on earth!

    • Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K -  November 7th, 2015. This 5K takes place in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and has a fun holiday theme. And with registration opening March 17th, this race is the earliest upcoming opportunity to get in on the runDisney action.

    • Walt Disney World® 5K presented by Cigna® - January 7th, 2016. This race is part of runDisney's biggest race weekend, Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna® and goes on sale April 28th, 2015.

    • Royal Family 5K during the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend - This enchanted event will be held February 19th, 2016 and goes on sale July 14th, 2015

Training for a 5K depends on your current fitness level, any running experience you have and if you have a time goal. Beginner runners should allow for at least eight weeks. I highly recommend using the run/walk method created by the official runDisney Training Consultant, Jeff Galloway

Participating in a runDisney event is pure magic! Especially when you have family to run with you. Being able to couple a magical Walt Disney World vacation with a race event is an unforgettable experience you and your family will cherish forever. And don't forget to wear your race edition t-shirt and Finisher's Medallion to the theme parks. Cast Members love recognizing race participants.

I hope this helps, Susan! Please let me know if I can be of further assistance as you begin planning to run Disney.
