hi, we have the Quick service dining plan for myself, hubby and 4 yr. old. we have to pay for our 15 month i guess. but my question is can you reccomend what would be the best way to go about getting the most out of our plan so we don't have to shell out $$

    Melissa:

Thanks for coming to the Mom's Panel with your question! And I think you'll be happy you did!

First of all, you don't have to pay for the dining plan for your 15-month old!  Although Disney's policy is that everyone in a room must purchase the plan for every night of your stay, children 2 and under are free!

The Quick-Service plan includes 2 meals at counter service locations, 2 snacks, and a refillable mug. My advice on making the most of this plan is:

    1. Use your credits for lunches and dinners. Besides getting more bang for your buck, breakfast items are easy to pack in your suitcase to eat in your room before heading to the parks. We bring granola bars, apples, beef jerky, dry cereal and plastic bowls & spoons. You can use your refillable mug at your resort for milk or coffee to accompany what you bring.
    2. Optimize your counter service credits. At restaurants like Cosmic Ray's, the larger chicken and ribs combo costs the same credit as the smaller chicken-only combo. Choose the larger combo options at restaurants so you'll have enough to feed your 15-month-old without buying for him a la carte. Many times, you can opt for fruit instead of the dessert offered with the plan, and I use this for snacks or breakfast.
    3. Be deliberate with snack credits. Your snack credit can purchase a soda OR it can purchase an egg roll in Adventureland, a banana OR chili cheese fries at Peco's Bill's. Certainly, one is more filling than the other, and if paired with another credit can make a small meal. Occasionally, I'll use a snack credit for a pastry in Norway's or France's bakery and save it for breakfast the next morning.
    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
