Hi! I have some questions about special event day at the park. I bought park-hopper ticket only. Do I need to buy special event ticket to stay passed park hours that day? Can I stay at the park and not to participate in the special event? what can I do?

Hello Diem, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with a great planning question.

I am thrilled to hear that you are planning to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. There are a number of “special events” that take place in Disney Theme Parks. It sounds like you are referring to an event that takes place in the Magic Kingdom after regular park hours. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is one of these events. The Magic Kingdom usually closes at 6:00 PM to regular guests because the events usually begin at 7:00 PM.

Guests attending the event can enter the Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM with their special event ticket and receive an event wristband. When the park closes to regular guests, Cast Members will check to make sure that any remaining guests have a wristband. Anyone without one will be escorted to the park exit. There are only a limited number of tickets sold to help keep wait times for rides, attractions, and character greetings to a minimum. You will find a line up of special entertainment including parades and fireworks. You can also enjoy treat stations scattered throughout the park too. If you are planning to remain in the park during the event, you can purchase a ticket for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party online or by phone by calling (407) 939-7995.

If you are not planning on purchasing an additional special event ticket, you can take advantage of your Ticket with Park Hopper Option and visit another theme park for the remainder of the evening. One thing to note, special events are very popular and known to sell out. If you are thinking about attending, I recommend purchasing tickets as soon as possible so you do not miss out on this amazing experience.

    See ya real soon,
    Andrea
